Williams honored by renewed interest from UNC

Roy Williams and the Tar Heels didn't forget about Louis Williams -- they merely were too busy with the senior high school class. Now that the recruitment of the class of 2004 is just about finished, the Georgia junior has UNC's attention.

"It feels good to have a coach like Roy Williams recruit me," Williams said. "He's got to be one of the five all time greatest coaches in the game. Especially in the game today. It's a real honor to be recruited by him at North Carolina."

The relationship between Williams and the UNC head coach are just in its early stages.

"He and I are just starting to get to know each other," Williams said. "He wants to come check me out some more and see what type of player that I am."

So, no offer yet?

"We haven't got that far," Williams said. "They haven't offered me and I haven't asked."

Despite local buzz that Georgia is the team to beat, Williams denied the reports.

"Well, no not really," he said. "I mean I'm just concentrating on the team this year."

And he's doing a good job at that, averaging more than 30 points per game thus far.

His list stands at Georgia, Memphis, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Tennessee, with visits slated for after his junior year.

"I'm going to start visiting some schools this summer," Williams said. "I think I'll probably come to a decision sometime early next season. Maybe by the start of the season."
