Football recruit updates

IC updates UNC football recruiting targets, Demario Minter, Fred Bennett, and Aaron Kirkland.

Inside Carolina catches up with three UNC football targets, Demario Minter, Fred Bennett, and Aaron Kirkland.

Demario Minter (5-10, 175, 4.45, GA) - Was voted to the NIKE Camp all-American team as a result of his impressive showing at the Atlanta Nike Camp.

Demario's current favorites are UGA, UNC, Clem, GaT, Aub, and MD. He has set up official visits with UGA 1/11 and UNC 1/18. He says he will probably set up visits with Clem and GaT. MD and Aub will fight it out for the remaining visit. Demario claims no favorite among his top six. Previously Ohio State was under consideration but they have been eliminated from consideration. Demario's HS team (Stephenson, Stone Mountain GA) is 5-1 and having a fine year.

Fred Bennett (6-2, 180, 4.45, SC) - Ranked as a top eight national DB prospect by SuperPrep, Fred plays wide receiver as well as corner in High School. He caught 30 passes his junior year for approximately 500 yards (3 for touchdowns). On defense, Fred registered 79 tackles and 7 interceptions. Fred currently favors CLEM over SC, UNC and GAT.

Fred's current list of favorites includes GaT, Clem, SCAR, UNC, and MD. Fred says that all these teams are currently equal. He attended the SCAR/Ala game. He enjoyed the game and is looking forward to taking his official visits in December/January. Fred's HS (Manning) is 6-2. Fred has caught 12 TD passes from his WR spot. He has intercepted 8 passes returning 2 for TDs.

Aaron Kirkland (6-5, 250, 4.8, NC) - Great "jumbo athlete" prospect from Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Aaron is considered as one of the top 100 players in the nation at the tight end position.  Carolina is primarily recruiting Aaron to play defensive end, the position he prefers to play, where Aaron recorded 80 tackles and 7 sacks as a junior. He caught 8 passes for 110 yards on offense.

Aaron's favorites remained unchanged with UNC, FSU, TN, and Clemson as his favorites. He attended the UNC/FSU game as well as the TN/LSU game. Aaron says both games were fun with a great atmosphere. He plans to set up his official visits next week (probably for the December/January timeframe) Aaron's HS team (Jack Britt, Fayetteville) is 6-1 with the only loss to South View).
