Carolina defeated No. 13 Clemson 38-3. It is the Tar Heels' second win over a team ranked in the
Associated Press Top 25 poll this season. Earlier this year, Carolina defeated No. 6 Florida
State, 41-9. The last time Carolina defeated two teams ranked in the AP Top 25 in the same season was
1995 (Virginia and Arkansas in the Gator Bowl). The last time Carolina defeated two AP Top 25 teams
in the regular season was 1992 (Virginia and Georgia Tech).
Carolina's 35-point margin of victory equals the largest margin of victory ever against Clemson.
The Tar Heels also won by 35 points (42-7) in 1970 in John Bunting's only trip to Death Valley as
It was also the Tar Heels' biggest margin of victory over a team ranked by The Associated Press,
eclipsing the previous best of 32 points in a 41-9 win over No. 6 FSU earlier this year.
It was also Clemson's worst loss in an ACC home game since 1975.
Carolina's 38 points were the most by a Tar Heel team at Clemson since the 1970 team scored 42
points in a 42-7 victory.
Carolina held Clemson to its fewest points (three) and yards (209) in the Tommy Bowden Era.
The win was just Carolina's second in Clemson since 1980, but second in the last three trips.
Carolina had 425 yards of offense and now has gained at least 400 yards of offense in three
consecutive games for the first time since 1997. The Tar Heels had 412 yards vs. ECU, 477 yards vs.
Virginia and 425 at Clemson.
Carolina had three 80-yard drives and two more drives of 54 yards each.
Carolina was 7 of 14 in third down conversions. That is the third consecutive game the Tar Heels
have converted at least 50 percent of their third down opportunities. Carolina was 12 of 19 vs.

Carolina's defense held Clemson without a touchdown. It is the first time Clemson has not scored
a touchdown at home since a 37-0 loss to Virginia Tech in 1998 - a span of 21 games.
Carolina has not allowed a punt return longer than 11 yards since the Texas game.
Clemson quarterback Woody Dantzler had accumulated a combined 935 yards in the previous two
games vs. NC State and Georgia Tech. Today, Carolina held the Heisman candidate to just 116 yards.
Quarterback Darian Durant accounted for three touchdowns today vs. Clemson. He scored his first
two career rushing touchdowns and also threw for a touchdown. Durant was 11 for 11 and was not
intercepted. He has completed at least 10 passes in all but two games this season.
Receiver Bosley Allen had his best day of the year with four catches for 100 yards and two
touchdowns. It was the first time this season a Carolina player had at least 100 yards receiving in a
game. The touchdowns were Allen's first of the season.
Ronald Curry became the Tar Heels' all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback. Curry
rushed eight times for 82 yards and now has 1,172 career rushing yards. He passed Jim Lalanne who had
1,096 yards at Carolina from 1938-40.
