UNC's Little earns third ACC rookie honors

Little shines again for Heels.

For the third time this season, North Carolina forward Camille Little has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

In UNC's three games over the last seven days, Little averaged a double-double with 20.7 points and 10.0 rebounds as the Tar Heels improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in ACC play. Against 10th-ranked Penn State on Dec. 30, the freshman from Winston-Salem, N.C., led UNC with 19 points in the upset win, 73-60. On Jan. 2, she scored a career-high 28 points and led the team with 13 rebounds as Carolina opened ACC play with a 90-79 victory over Wake Forest. On Jan. 4, she scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds as UNC beat Clemson 72-47.

Little claimed ACC Rookie honors in the first week of the season and again in the third week. On the season,she leads UNC in scoring (14.6 points per game) and rebounding (8.3 per game) and is shooting 54.4 percent from the field.

Duke's Alana Beard claimed this week's ACC Player of the Week honors.

No. 13 UNC is back in action on Thursday when the Tar Heels travel to NC State for an ACC game. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum.
