'I considered committing'

It is well published that five players verbally committed to the Tar Heels during their official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend. It has also been noted that the numerous verbal commitments inspired many of the undecided players to consider pledging to UNC. One such player included 6-1 180-pound Rashaun Jones of Columbia High School in Lake City, Fla.

"I considered (committing)," stated Jones, "but I want to take all my visits first."

Jones has visits upcoming to Syracuse (1/16), South Florida (1/20), Miami (1/23) and N.C. State (1/30). He said he feels that committing to any school before finishing up his official visits tour would cheat his college decision. Jones believes he can learn a lot on each particular visit just as he learned a great deal during his first visit trip to Chapel Hill.

"It was more than I expected," he said, "they do stuff kind of like we do stuff so I kind of felt at home."

Linebacker Larry Edwards (hailing from Tampa, Fla.) was Jones' player tour guide for the visit. Jones enjoyed speaking with Edwards and despite claming no clear leader, feels the visit helps the Tar Heels' case for his services.

"It definitely helped North Carolina's view in my mind," remarked Jones. "They want me there and they offered me a scholarship to come on in."
