George Lynch was traded to the Charlotte Hornets today as part of a three-team deal.
Lynch, a member of the 1993 Carolina title team, has played the last three seasons in Philadelphia. He averaged 8.4 points and 7.2 rebound last year with the 76ers, starting 80 games.
Bob Bass, Charlotte's executive vice president of basketball operations -- "We feel like George was the key guy in the trade for us. He was a starter on that Philadelphia team last year that had the first or second-best record in the league and went to the Finals, so we felt like he was a big key to our trade ...
"Lynch has been a starter, and I think he'll bring us something. He's a very good defender. He's a mid-range jump shooter, and he has great efforts every night. A player like that, he's 31 (years old), the rest of these players are 23 and 24 that we're bringing in, so we've got young players, and we've got a veteran player that will probably help us immediately."
