Visit made Goddard '100% sure' on UNC

North Carolina received a commitment today from one of its top football targets in Roanoke (N.C.) cornerback Trimane Goddard. His coach talked to Inside Carolina about the developments ...

Inside Carolina spoke with Roanoke High School head coach Donnie Kiefer following Goddard's commitment.

"When Trimane started his recruiting process we sat down and talked and agreed that when he became 100 percent sure about where he wanted to go then he would go ahead and commit. I told him that if he was only 85 percent sure then he should wait until he had taken all of his visits.

"Yesterday he came to me and told me that he was sure that he wanted to go to Carolina. I called all the other schools that were recruiting Trimane and let them know that Trimane had decided on a school but I did not tell them which one. I also explained that Trimane would not be taking any more visits. That was something that Trimane and I agreed on that he would not commit until he was sure and after he committed then he would not visit any other schools.

"I did not tell Carolina until after Trimane had his press conference today. I was afraid that the word would get out on the internet and Trimaine would not have his moment in the sun. After Trimane finished with his press conference, he called Coach Bunting to tell him the news. Coach Bunting was very happy when he heard. Trimane may visit Chapel Hill some on unofficial visits between now and signing and of course after that."
