Randolph Morris and UNC?

The story only appeared in a Fayetteville, N.C. newspaper, but it excited Tar Heel fans nationwide. "UNC still in hunt for Georgia gem Morris," the headline on Tuesday declared. The story surprised recruiting analysts, who were under the impression that Morris was down to Georgia Tech and Kentucky.

The Fayetteville paper's headline might have been surprising, but it was also wrong.

Inside Carolina went straight to the source Wednesday evening.

"Well that's the first I'd heard of that, too," said Ralph Morris, Randolph's father.

So much for that development.

"Carolina is out - Randolph is down to Georgia Tech and Kentucky," the elder Morris said. "Carolina has no shot."

Case closed.

Morris said that his son will make a decision in the spring, and the NBA will not be considered.

"The NBA is also out – he will not go to the NBA."

Morris, a 6-11, 250-pound senior at Landmark Christian (Ga.) is ranked No. 11 in the class by analyst Dave Telep.

He is averaging 27.5 points, 16.2 boards and 5.2 blocks this season.
