New football recruit name surfaces

Inside Carolina caught up with Shrine Bowl participant Troy Williamson. Name of the game for Troy is speed. Troy plans to run track as well as participate in football.

Inside Carolina: Troy, have you been on any visits so far?

Troy Williamson: No sir, not yet.


IC: Do you plan to visit North Carolina?

Williamson: I had planned to take an unofficial visit to come see a game but I haven't been able to make it. I will probably schedule an official visit there.


IC: What is important to you in choosing a school?

Williamson: I don't want to go to far from home and academics are also important.


IC: What do you plan to major in?

Williamson: Business Management.


IC: Who is recruiting you from North Carolina?

Williamson: Coach Caldwell.


IC: Have you met Coach Caldwell?
Williamson: Yes, he came to visit my HS in the spring.


IC: What do you like about North Carolina?

Williamson: Their academics are good. They seem to have a very good coaching staff. Their track program seems to be pretty good too. I would like to participate in track in college as well.


IC: What events do you compete in?

Williamson: 100m, 200m, 4 x100m.


IC: What is your best event?

Williamson: I'd say the 200m.


IC: What is your time for the 100m?

Williamson: 10.5 secs.


IC: Did you have a favorite school growing up?

Williamson: No, not really.


IC: What do you like about Clemson?

Williamson: Pretty much the same as North Carolina.


IC: How about South Carolina?

Williamson: The same except they are only 45 minutes from my house.


IC: How far is too far from home? Is Chapel Hill too far away?

Williamson: No, that is not too far away.


IC: Does your family have a preference where you play?

Williamson: My mom likes TN but she would go along with whatever I want.


IC: Anything surprise you about recruiting?

Williamson: Not really. My coach had talked to me about what it was going to be like.


IC: Have you scheduled any visits yet?

Williamson: I am going to the Clemson/Carolina game (South Carolina).
