The 2004 recruiting class seems to be full, or is predicted to be full by Signing Day. To prevent any "over signing," North Carolina's coaching staff asked Jones, if he were to commit to UNC, to enroll next January so that he would count for their 2005 class. This process, which has been common at schools such as Penn State and Ohio State, is known as "grey-shirting."
"I don't know what it's called but it ain't me," remarked Jones.
Jones will now start with a clean slate and claims he doesn't have a leader but is considering South Florida, Miami and N.C. State. The Lake City, FL native visited USF last week and Miami this past weekend, and plans to visit Raleigh this upcoming weekend to see NC State.
Jones's decision will be made public on Signing Day.
