Four Heels named academic All-ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four University of North Carolina football players, including offensive guard Jeb Terry, center Jason Brown, linebacker Doug Justice and quarterback Darian Durant, have been named to the All-ACC Academic football team, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Terry, a 2003 second-team All-ACC guard, who recently played in the Senior Bowl, earned Academic All-ACC honors for the second straight season. Terry graduated in December with a 3.25 GPA in business. A native of Dallas, Texas, Terry started three years for the Tar Heels.

A linebacker from Port Orange, Fla., Justice carries a 3.34 GPA in communications and is on the All-ACC Academic football team for the second consecutive year. Justice finished ninth on the team with 45 tackles, including 28 solo stops and 17 assists.

Durant earned recognition for the first time with a 3.06 GPA in African America history during the fall semester. A native of Florence, S.C., Durant holds nearly every UNC career passing mark, including total yards, passing yards, touchdowns, completions and attempts.

Henderson, N.C., native Jason Brown had a 3.08 in communications in the fall to earn academic honors. He started all 12 games in 2003 and has been a two-year starter at center. Brown is considered one of the top centers in the league.

A total of 12 players on this year's squad were recognized for their academic achievements last season. Repeaters from the 2002 team are Clemson's William Henry, Duke's Drew Strojny and Chris Douglas, Florida State's Boulware, Maryland's Novak and Suter, North Carolina's Justice and Terry, NC State's Austin Herbert, Virginia's Schaub, Wake's Brad White and Quintin Williams.
