Rice: 'It feels great'

At 7:10 this morning Chase Rice became the first member of the Class of 2004 to sign his letter of intent with North Carolina.

"It feels great, to finally have it done after almost two years," said Rice, a linebacker prospect out of AC Reynolds High School in Asheville.

Rice is optimistic about this class and the future of football at UNC.

"I talked with Coach Bunting, Coach Gitty [new UNC Defensive Coordinator John Gutekunst], and Coach Powell, who was my primary recruiter. They were all very happy and sounded thrilled," he said.

"It is going to be a great class, and I can't wait to get there."
