The 6-11, 235-pound junior power forward from Reno (NV) High grew up as a fan of Arizona, so Lute Olson and the Wildcats are high atop his list, along with the Stanford Cardinal. The other school he likes, even though it's early in the process, is North Carolina.
"I like Arizona and Stanford a lot," said Padgett, who took an unofficial trip to Stanford last month. "They've been showing the most interest and those would be the two schools I would call my leaders, with UNC right behind."
Stanford has been showing interest the longest, since prior to his sophomore season, but both Carolina and Arizona have joined the Cardinal in pursuit.
"I'm not ready to choose right now whether I'll stay close to home or go far away, but Carolina has been showing a lot of interest," added Padgett. "They came out to watch me work out in the fall. Their reputation is phenomenal and I'll definitely have them in the final five when it comes down to it."
Padgett has a solid inside game and finds a way to get it down around the basket. He's deceptively quick in the lane and works hard for every rebound and loose ball. He still needs to work on improving his perimeter game and his ballhandling skills.
But the Nevada native is a class act, and that's one of the reasons he still lists the University of Nevada-Reno under consideration despite receiving heavy interest from the elite colleges in the country. UNLV is another local school he is looking at.
