J.R. Smith makes the grade

Inside Carolina has confirmed that 6-7 J.R. Smith has made the necessary score on his SAT to attend the University of North Carolina next season.

The McDonalds All-American from St. Benedicts (N.J.) will continue to try and improve his score, but his mother confirmed Thursday afternoon that he has made the grade.

Smith's high school season ended late last month with a loss in the state title game. For the season, Smith led St. Benedicts to a 29-2 record while pouring in 23.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

The high-flying wing will particpate in both the McDonald's All-American Game and the Roundball Classic this spring.
