Game Day: UConn Preview

Radio/TV: Sunday's game between UNC and Connecticut will be broadcast live on radio by the Tar Heel Radio Network. The flagship station is 1360-AM WCHL.

PROGRAM: Most people who've just barely been exposed to women's hoops know about UConn. Coach Geno Auriemma and the Huskies are a perennial powerhouse, winning titles in 1995 and 2000. Last season UConn lost in the Final Four to eventual national champion Notre Dame, 90-75. This year, they are the preseason #1.

HOW: UConn defeated Fairfield, 93-50, in the first round of the Preseason NIT also their season opener. In the second round, they beat up on Florida International 91-47.

WHO: The Huskies have two stars, senior preseason A-A point guard Sue Bird and sophomore guard Diana Taurasi, one of the most hotly contested recruits two years ago. The combo of the two is devastating.

They'll go 6-2 across the the post, Swin Cash and Tamika Williams at forward and Asjha Jones at center. Cash and Williams are more scorers, Jones a very good rebounder.
