North Carolina 2004 signee Martel Thatch, like many of his fellow Tar Heel classmates, is fully qualified academically and will enroll in June, he told Inside Carolina via a telephone interview Sunday.
"I'm ready to go," Martel Thatch
said. "I've been running track to stay in shape. Our relay team is doing pretty well. Coach [James] Webster has been calling me to make sure I'm doing OK."
Thatch will have the opportunity to provide depth at safety while possibly participating on special teams.
He is not the only Greensboro Dudley player enrolling this summer as both Demario Pressley and Jamaal Edwards plan to enroll at NCSU and FSU, respectively, in June as well.
The Dudley talent pool appears to have plenty of depth, as two rising senior players are also being recruited. Kennedy Tinsley and Dominique Midgett are getting interest from some big time programs.
"Midgett has offers from Vanderbilt and Virginia," Thatch said. "He is a good player. Kennedy is getting interest from some of the local schools."
Thatch was ranked as the 46th best safety in America by The Insiders network. He garnered over a dozen offers from some of the top programs in the country.
