Metcalf earned the first ACC honor of the season after averaging 21.0 points through UNC's first three games. She led the Tar Heels with 25 points in a Preseason WNIT loss at top-ranked Connecticut last Thursday and also was the team's leading scorer with 20 points in Carolina's season-opening win against George Mason.
A 5-7 point guard from Charlotte, N.C., Metcalf is shooting 45.5 percent (10-22) from three-point range and hit five threes in the games against Evansville and Connecticut. She also leads the Tar Heels from the free throw line with a percentage of 76.0 (19-25).
The Tar Heels (2-1) opened the season in the Preseason WNIT, topping George Mason and Evansville to advance to the semifinal game, where they fell to Connecticut. Metcalf started all three games and her performances earned her a spot on the six-member All-Tournament Team.
Carolina returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Western Carolina at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Auditorium.
