Andray Blatche

Are you still planning to go to prep school, and, if so, where?

I'm going to South Kent next year in Connecticut.

Do you have any idea what you want to do next year--NBA, colleges, what?

If I get bigger, I'm probably going to put my name in the draft. I'm going to prep school pretty much just to get bigger and stronger.

How about your college choices, if that doesn't happen?

UNC, Syracuse, UConn, West Virginia, and Georgetown.

Is that pretty solid, or could that change?

That's pretty solid.

Do you have any favorites?

Right now it's Syracuse.

That's a little different than what you told Jeff Goodman last week.

Yeah. I talked to him last week. I don't know--it was UNC. But I don't talk to them as much, and I talk to Syracuse a lot. I'm starting to get the feel for Syracuse.

Do you feel like you aren't getting much attention from UNC?

Yes.

Is that the reason why?

Yeah.

If they turned up the attention, could things change again?

Yes.

What is the advantage at Syracuse? There are those Hakim Warrick comparisons.

Yeah, I get that all the time. Plus, it's right at home and my family can come watch the game.

Are you a legit 6-11?

Yeah.

And what do you weigh?

230 [pounds].

What are your plans for the rest of the summer?

Just play a lot of AAU ball and get better. And then get prepared for prep school to get stronger to see if I can make the draft.

Who do you look to for advice?

My godfather, Greg.

Is going to prep school and preparing for the NBA your #1 priority, or is your priority to go to college?

I would say the NBA first and then college.

Do you think that could be a reason some college coaches aren't showing you as much attention?

Probably, yeah.

Is that a valid concern on their part?

If I don't feel like I'm getting enough attention in the mid-NBA, I won't go. If I can make at least the first round, there is no sense in me going [to college], so it will depend on how much bigger I get.

First round and you are going, just to get a guarantee?

Yes.

As far as your advisors, what are they telling you in terms of where you need to improve? You look like a combination of a "4" and a "3," maybe sharpen up your handle and play the "3" in the NBA. Where do you think you project?

Really, I need to work on my dribbling more and my outside jump shot. If I get those two down. I think I'll make first round if I get those down pat--along with getting stronger.
