North Carolina's pursuit of David Padgett didn't last long. Padgett's mother, Debbie, confirmed Saturday night that her son, who had received permission this week to talk transfer with UNC, had picked Louisville.

"He contacted everybody and let them know what was going on," said Padgett's mother, Debbie. "It was a tough decision, both coaches are great guys but he had a feeling about Louisville."

Padgett had received permission to talk to North Carolina coach Roy Williams, who originally recruited Padgett to KU, last week. He ultimately decided to not visit the school in Chapel Hill, N.C., and UNC was not a finalist for Padgett.

"(UNC point guard) Raymond Felton told me yesterday, `Nothing is different, you'll still be a part of the Carolina family. You just went (to the NBA) ahead of everyone,'" Smith said.
"His attitude and appearance ... is no surprise to me based upon the many years that I have known and admired him as a man and a coach," Waters wrote in an e-mail.
