S.C. RB back from UNC camp

Highly rated Sumter (S.C.) tailback J.C. Neal and his father, James, returned from the North Carolina camp this week with a newfound appreciation for the UNC football program, as well as the all-around campus environment.

"I was immensely impressed with the school, the football staff, and the campus," said James Neal, who is taking his son on a series of one-day camps near his home.

"I am trying to get to every one-day camp of every school that has offered J.C. within a four-hour driving distance of our home," he said.

J.C. Neal, who holds offers from nearly every ACC school, is a multi-talented player that plays on both sides of the ball, but he prefers offense.

"I want to play running back or wide receiver," Neal said. "The most important things to me in choosing a school is No. 1, playing time; No. 2, the environment at the school; and No. 3, the graduation rates of the players.

Neal, who grew up a Florida State fan, said he didn't think he would camp there. And, as recent as May 24, Neal told The Insiders that N.C. State was his leader.

As for his favorites, he is wide open.

"I haven't really started narrowing things down yet," Neal said. "I did not get a chance to tour the campus as much as I would like. We mainly were able to see only the stadium and the football facility. I will probably take an official visit to North Carolina."

James Neal agreed, "Yes, North Carolina will get an official visit."
