Friday has offer from UNC

When you hear Hampton (Va.) Phoebus High School, you immediately think about their star running back and blue chip recruit Elan Lewis. However, Lewis isn't the only Hampton native the Tar Heels' coaching staff will be trying to lure across the Virginia-North Carolina state border.

Defensive end/linebacker Steven Friday, who has been offered by Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse as well as UNC, has been made a prime target to help fill voids at defensive end and tight end for the Heels.

Although Friday claims Virginia Tech as his currently leader, he admits to being curious about the Tar Heels and is strongly considering a visit to Chapel Hill.

"I'm a little bit interested in them," remarked Friday. "I don't know much about them because I haven't really been out there."

Friday, who doesn't plan to commitment any time soon, is still sorting through what is important to him in a school. At this point the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder isn't even sure if he would like to stay in the Old Dominion State or venture to completely new surroundings.

"I do and I don't [want to stay in state]," stated Friday. "I don't really know. I haven't been any where else, so right now I want to stay in state, but that could change."

As a junior, Friday made 117 tackles, 17 sacks, and 23 tackles for loss. He earned first-team All-State, All-Region, and All-District honors.
