New offers not shaking Thomas' commitment

Camaron Thomas, the big North Moore defensive tackle and UNC's first 2005 commitment, convinced North Carolina coaches early that he was deserving of an offer. Now other schools are starting to catch on.

"South Carolina and Indiana have now offered me a scholarship," Thomas told Inside Carolina during a telephone interview Monday. "I am firmly committed to North Carolina, though."

Thomas committed to the Tar Heels in early February and has not wavered.

"I just got back from camp in Chapel Hill and I loved it," he said.

UNC assistant Gunter Brewer discovered Thomas and has been keeping in touch with him as often as possible.

"He's also starting to show some interest in my cousin Willis Barrett, but there has been no offer as yet."

Thomas plans on coming to as many Carolina games as he can, and, he has a request for Tar Heel fans this fall.

"Maybe Carolina fans can come and watch my team play some," Thomas said. "We are just down south around Pinehurst in Moore County."

North Moore High School will meet Pinecrest High School next week in a 7-on-7 scrimmage.

"We are only a 1-A school and they are 4-A, so it should be a lot of competition."
