Charlotte's Starcevic commits to UNC

Charlotte Catholic's Nick Starcevic has committed to North Carolina, sources told Inside Carolina on Sunday.

Nick Starcevic (6'3, 225,4.75) chose the Tar Heels over South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and N.C. State – in that order, Starcevic said.

The fullback-linebacker plays on both sides of the ball and on special teams. As a junior, Starcevic rushed for 930 yards on 143 carries, 18 touchdowns and had 77 yards on 10 receptions. At defensive end, Starcevic registered 117 tackles, 12 sacks, and six interceptions, and he blocked three punts.

The Tar Heel coaches have also told Starcevic they were considering him as a tight end prospect.

"I feel that my aggressiveness and knowledge of the game are my strengths out on the field." Starcevic said in a previous interview with The Insiders. "But if I need to improve on one part of my game it would be my speed."

There was never any question of Starcevic and his family's admiration for UNC.

"We were blown away," Nick's father, Mike, said following a visit to Chapel Hill surrounding the Spring Game earlier this year.

"It's a great environment – a nice campus with nice facilities, but I really like the coaching staff," added Nick.
