Hansbrough not ready to decide

Tyler Hansbrough, a candidate for top player in the country honors, says that he's not yet ready to make a decision.

July is going to be an extremely busy month for Tyler Hansbrough, the 6-foot-9 power forward out of Poplar Bluff (Mo.) High. For a kid like Hansbrough, the next four weeks provide him with a chance to showcase his game at the highest level.

"My main thing is to go out there and play the best to my ability and try to dominate every game and be consistent and prove my status in the rankings or whatever you can improve," Hansbrough said. "I want to make myself better as a player."

There's no doubt that Hansbrough is focusing on July in a different way than his peers. He won't say it, but in the back of his mind you can sense that he's looking at the month as a chance to become the best player in America.

Currently, his school list reads Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina and Missouri. He's got no future unofficial visits planned and says there's no new news to report in regards to his situation.

Speculation seems to follow Hansbrough all the time about his time frame for a decision. The young man says that he's not going to pull the trigger anytime soon.

"I'm going to do it late July," Hansbrough said. "I want to just really concentrate on July and not set anything and look at all my options and take some time and make sure I'm making the right decision."
