Starcevic: 'Carolina was just a great fit'

Yet another offer earned during North Carolina's summer camps resulted in yet another addition to the Tar Heels' commitment list. Charlotte Catholic FB/LB Nick Starcevic, who received his first offer from the Tar Heels following his camp performance last weekend, became UNC's sixth verbal commitment Sunday night.

"I went to the [North Carolina] three-day camp," stated Starcevic. "The last day of camp they offered. I went to a few more camps and I just decided that I really liked the coaching staff. I liked the environment and the great academics. It was just the school for me.

"I had Coach Powell's number so I called him and told him. He gave me Coach Bunting's number to call and tell him."

Starcevic camped at South Carolina, Virginia, William and Mary, and Wake Forest before finalizing his decision. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder realized at the aforementioned camps that Chapel Hill was the place for him.

"Carolina was just a great fit for me," Starcevic said. "I have always been a Tar Heel fan, and I really liked the coaching staff. I also like where the program is headed."

On his way to earning All-Conference honors, Starcevic accumulated over 1,000 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns on offense with 117 tackles and 12 sacks on defense. Bunting and company plan to take advantage of Starcevic's versatility by plugging him into the future holes at fullback and tight end.
