Kinston (N.C.) defensive tackle Jamal Lawrence is trying to get his name out to colleges this month with camps and visits. One of his camp trips will be to North Carolina.

As of yet, he has not received an offer but believes one will come soon.

"I am hearng a lot from (North) Carolina, N.C. State, and Clemson," says the 6-foot-2, 300-pounder. "I am actually pretty much open to anywhere I can get on scholarship and get an education. All the letters are tell me me I should come to visit for a camp."

Lawrence has grown considerably this summer, putting on upwards of twenty-five pounds. He is trying to visit as many camps as possible.

"I am going to UNC, East Carolina, and hopefully a few more. I have not been to any camps yet."

Once the season rolls around is when Lawrence would like to take his unofficial visits and try to get a feel for the campus.

"I want to look at the atmosphere and see how I feel and fit in. I want to look at the school educational wise and see how they are in my major. I want to major in computer engineering."

Last season, Lawrence was named all-conference and is hoping to improve on that as a senior. He also recently ran a 4.84 40-yard dash.
