Offer on the way for Va. sleeper

During the month of June, Clifton (Va.) Centreville defensive back Derek Bailey went from virtual unknown to one of this year's top rising prospects with his performances at various summer camps.

"I went to a lot of camps," remarked Bailey, who attended camps at Wake Forest, North Carolina, Syracuse and Maryland and plans to camp at Georgia Tech and LSU in July. "The camps that I went to I did well one-on-one on the best wide receivers there. Each DB coach was impressed."

One such defensive back coach who walked away impressed with the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder was North Carolina defensive secondary coach Marvin Sanders. According to Bailey, Sanders hasn't offered yet but said he would like to add the Tar Heels to Bailey's ever-growing offers lists, which currently includes Akron, Kent State, Syracuse, Temple, and Wake Forest.

The feeling is mutual as Bailey lists the Tar Heels among his current top five favorites along with Maryland, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech. Bailey grew up a fan of the Heels and has developed into a fan of Sanders during his recruitment.

"I just liked the school when I was younger," stated Bailey in regards to UNC. "I loved watching them growing up and I love their DB coach, Coach Sanders. He's a real good DB coach."

Bailey is a speedy defensive back with great instincts that opposing quarterbacks tend to veer away from. During his junior season, he compiled 63 tackles, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
