"I love Carolina," said the 6-9, 220-pound sophomore in a weekend interview with Inside Carolina's Clint Jackson. "My favorite school is definitely Carolina."
Johnson's Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell squad was in College Park, Md. for the Morgan Wootten Invitational. He registered 10 points, six rebounds, four blocks and two assists in O'Connell's 72-57 win over Georgetown Prep Saturday night.
While a member of the Class of 2004, Johnson is already receiving heavy attention and recognition on a national level. The top colleges are in full pursuit and recruiting publications rank him in the Top 10.
Despite all the schools that have been in contact, Johnson has a solid top four schools.
"My top four are UNC, Florida, Georgetown and Maryland," he said in order of preference.
Carolina has been atop his list for several months now (see link below), but have the Tar Heels' early season struggles impacted his interest in attending Chapel Hill?
"Well, actually it's made me like them even more," he said, "because I think I can help them."
And the Tar Heel staff knows just how much he can help, as they've virtually made a scholarship offer already.
"Well, I think they have," Johnson said. "They told me that they wanted me at UNC and nd that there's a scholarship waiting for me, so I guess they have."
