"It was real fun," DeGeare said of the Tar Heels' summer camp. "I got work with the offensive line coach. I felt good working with him. He does basically the same thing as Glenn's coaches do, so I felt comfortable doing that."
That comfort continued when DeGeare attended the Tar Heels' Blue Chip Day on August 24th. During his stay, the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder got the opportunity to not only interact with offensive line coach Hal Hunter, but also got the chance to speak to head coach John Bunting.
"I felt real comfortable down there," remarked DeGeare. "I liked the offensive line coach. I like Coach Bunting he's a nice guy. I just [want to] come to a couple of their games [and] see how they turn out this year."
The Tar Heels' coaching staff shares the same affection towards DeGeare proven by the strong interest they have been showing him throughout his recruitment.
"The coach said they are trying to recruit me hard," stated DeGeare. "I'm getting handwritten letters from them everyday saying how bad they need me and stuff. And then their recruiting coordinator, he is telling me that I need to come to Carolina."
Like his favorites list, DeGeare's official visits schedule is not set in stone. However, he does know that each visit will take place after his senior season and North Carolina will be among the stops.
