Rozier to opt for pro baseball

North Carolina 2004 quarterback commitment will not join the Tar Heels football team for the first day of practice on Monday, sources say.

According to newly committed 2005 quarterback Joey Bozich, UNC coach John Bunting told him that Michael Rozier would not be joining the team.

"He said he wanted me to come to camp this fall, because Rozier had decided to play baseball," Bozich told Inside Carolina on Sunday.

The 6-feet-5-inch, 210-pound left-hander was a Louisville Slugger 2004 Preseason All-American and Baseball America's No. 20 prospect in the class of 2004.

He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox during this summer's Major League Baseball Draft, but originally turned down the offer.
