Haywood impresses in Washington

It took him a little while to get going, but now that Brendan Haywood's healthy, he's making a huge impact on the Washington Wizards.

Haywood scored 19 points (8-9 FG) and grabbed seven rebounds in 28 minutes, as Washington upset Dallas last night, 102-95.

Rookie center Brendan Haywood led Washington to its most dominant first-half performance of the season, throwing down four dunks (six overall), and scoring 16 of his 19 points en route to a 55-38 lead.

Haywood was the story over the first two quarters, as he ran roughshod through Shawn Bradley, Evan Eschmeyer and Edjuardo Najera. Most of his baskets came on backdoor cuts for easy dunks, the most spectacular coming after a pinpoint alley-oop from Tyronn Lue.

Since Haywood was activated, the Wizards are 4-3, with the former Tar Heel averaging 8.9 points (60% FG) and 6.1 rebounds in about 25 minutes per game.
