Stars slated to attend Alumni Game

The ACC is the world's greatest basketball conference. It is only fitting that on August 28th former ACC (and NBA) star Jerry Stackhouse will host the 3rd Annual World's Greatest Alumni Game at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, N.C..

The game will feature some of the brightest stars from the ACC and the NBA, and event proceeds will benefit the American Diabetes Association and Triple Threat Foundation. Game time is 4:30 p.m.

For tickets, contact the UNC Box Office at 1-800-722-HEEL (4335) or (919) 962-2296.

While the 3rd Annual World's Greatest Alumni Game (WGAG) is the highlight of an event-filled fundraising weekend, participating NBA stars will also "team up" a number of times, off the court! The Fan Appreciation Extravaganza, an open access autograph session beginning at 1:30 p.m., will precede the game.

Admittance to the Fan Appreciation Extravaganza requires a paid game ticket and an event pass. Extravaganza autograph session passes are available at University GM Superstore, 3757 Chapel Hill Boulevard, Durham, NC.

The confirmed participation list for both the WGAG and the Fan Appreciation Extravaganza includes, Jerry Stackhouse, Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter, Rick Fox, Rasheed Wallace, George Lynch, Josh Howard, Steve Blake, Ronald Murray, Darrell Armstrong, Dahntay Jones, Brendan Haywood, Rusty LaRue, Walter Davis, Chucky Brown, Grant Hill, Jay Williams and Chris Corchiani. Kenny Smith and Greg Anthony will provide commentary from the sidelines.

Before the NBA athletes arrive at the Smith Center, they will join together in a community outreach effort. The National Basketball Players Association, Feed the Children, Jerry Stackhouse and CarolinaPros (a local non-profit founded by Rick Fox) have teamed up in an effort to raise awareness of hunger in America. On Saturday, August 28th at 9 am, WGAG game participants will help distribute truckloads of food and personal care items to 400 needy Triangle children and families. The food distribution will take place at University Mall in Chapel Hill.
