Hansbrough to commit to UNC

Inside Carolina has confirmed through sources close to the situation that Tyler Hansbrough will announce Monday evening that he has decided to commit to North Carolina. Hansbrough, a 6-9, 225-pound power forward from Poplar Bluff (Mo.) High, chose the Tar Heels over finalists Kentucky, Kansas and Missouri.

Hansbrough is scheduled to announce his decision Monday at a 6:30 p.m. (EST) press conference in his hometown. He has already contacted the North Carolina coaching staff to inform them of his commitment.

Ranked the No. 7 senior in the country by TheInsidersHoops.com, Hansbrough averaged 26.5 points and 11.4 rebounds his junior season, leading Poplar Bluff to its first basketball state championship.

Hansbrough is North Carolina's third commitment from the Class of 2005, joining Illinois guard Bobby Frasor and Virginia wing Marcus Ginyard.
