Claggett has Heels on his mind

Upper Marlboro (Md.) Douglass defensive tackle Thomas Claggett has held six offers since the May Evaluation Period, with North Carolina being among the schools to tender the 6-foot-2, 215-pounder.

However, Claggett has seen somewhat of a communication barrier between him and the Tar Heels' coaching staff resulting in his lack of knowledge of the program.

"I have seen the [North Carolina] coaches in May," stated Claggett. "I've been trying to call, but I keep getting an answering machine."

Despite the lack of communication, Claggett is strongly considering the Tar Heels to the point that he includes them on his current favorites list, which also consist of Syracuse, Cincinnati, Marshall and Kent State.

"I very interested in them because I have heard a lot about them," stated Claggett. "I would like to visit to see how it is down there."

Although nothing has been formally scheduled, Claggett figures to make that all-important first visit to Chapel Hill one of his official visits. He also plans to officially visit the rest of his favorites before verbally committing.

Claggett had a solid senior campaign with 79 tackles, 16 sacks, and two fumble recoveries to earn first-team all-league, all-county and honorable mention all-state honors.
