Barksdale reschedules unofficial visit

Back in July, the North Carolina coaching staff was set to host three-star fullback/tailback Anthony Barksdale of Farmingdale (N.Y.) High School for an unofficial visit. But due to circumstances beyond both parties' control, the 6-foot, 230-pounder never made it to Chapel Hill.

Barksdale has kept in touch with the Tar Heels' coaching staff throughout his recruitment and as a result has rescheduled his unofficial visit for September 4th.

"I call them from time to time," stated Barksdale. "Back when they could call me, they called once and they send me mail every other day.

"We talk about getting me to come down there and getting to see the atmosphere, because I have never been to Chapel Hill. They just want me to come down there and witness it."

Michigan State might currently hold the crown as Barksdale's leader, but the versatile ‘back admits the Tar Heels aren't too far behind and once he gets to see the program in person his favorites could see a facelift.

"I like North Carolina, it's a real nice school," remarked Barksdale. "But what I know about them is from what I hear."

Barksdale hopes to reschedule an unofficial visit to Michigan State – another trip that failed to happen – after his Chapel Hill stop. He then figures to take each of his official visits – UNC being among the five - before finalizing a decision.
