Banks is a 6-7 ½, 195-pound small forward at Bergen Catholic (N.J.) and has a similar body build to that of N.C. State freshman and former St. Raymond's star Julius Hodge.
Banks and his ‘mates get going this Friday at Paramus and the junior will try and improve upon his numbers from a year ago – and not just the 17.1 points, five boards, four blocks and four steals per contest.
"I think we can honestly compete for the state title," he said.
Banks is wiry and active. He handles the ball well and is a confident scorer. However, he needs to make a better effort to hit the boards.
He said his current list includes UNC (which he listed first), Seton Hall, St. John's, Duke, Villanova, Syracuse and Texas. He added that Seton Hall, UNC, Duke and Louisville are the most aggressive.
"I really like Villanova so far," he added.
Here's an assessment from IC recruiting analyst Clint Jackson back from the Charlie Weber Tournament during the summer:
"He's a sleek wing player with a fine handle, and showed the capacity to put the ball on the floor and shed defenders. He utilizes a nice stutter step and changes speeds to keep defenders off balance. He showed nice range on his jump shot and canned some impressive three-balls in the two games that I saw him. Overall a nice high-major wing forward/shooting guard."
