Heels offer Virginia WR

Hampton (Va.) wide receiver Todd Nolen received a pleasant surprise last week when he opened up a letter addressed to him with a Chapel Hill return address. Enclosed was the 6-foot-2, 175-pound three-star prospect's fifth scholarship offer.

The Tar Heels join Virginia, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, and Syracuse on Nolen's current scholarship list. In addition, they also join the aforementioned five schools on Nolen's favorites list.

"I wouldn't say I have a favorite," remarked Nolen. "But the five schools that I'm looking at are Virginia, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Syracuse and North Carolina. They have all offered."

Nolen, who declares a fondness for the Tar Heels' offensive style, didn't know as much about North Carolina as he had liked, but had the majority of his questions and concerns answered by UNC assistant coach Ken Browning.

"I had one [conversation] with Coach Browning on Tuesday or Thursday," stated Nolen. "We talked about just coming up there and visiting."

Nolen doesn't have any concrete plans to visit Chapel Hill yet, but he hopes to make an unofficial visit within the upcoming months as well as include the Tar Heels among his five official visits, which he plans to take after his senior season.

An all-state selection as a junior, Nolen recorded 728 yards and 11 touchdowns on 27 receptions.
