"He's extremely happy to have the opportunity to get to visit the school where Michael Jordan and Vince Carter went," Bynum's older brother, Cory Thomas, said. "He knows that Coach (Roy) Williams has coached a lot of pros and he also wants to go so he can try one of coach's famous steaks on the barbecue. That's all he talks about."
After the visit to North Carolina, it's likely that Bynum will visit UConn again. The two other schools in the mix are Rutgers and Georgetown.
Bynum's brother said that Andrew had a good time at both Georgia and Georgia Tech, but that he's still wide open, especially given the fact that he hasn't been to Chapel Hill - and also that he's only been on the UConn campus for a couple hours and had limited contact with the players.
Bynum could become a more significant recruit for the Tar Heels if 6-8, 245-pound Richard Hendrix opts to commit to Alabama. Hendrix has had UNC and Alabama as his final two schools for six months and it appears a decision could finally come as early as this week.
