Florida DL Gets UNC Offer

Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips defensive end Neal Jones recently added North Carolina to a steady growing offers list that now stands at seven scholarship offers. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder has a solid top five that includes the Tar Heels.

"They have a good program," Jones said of UNC, though he also favors UCF, Indiana, East Carolina, and South Carolina. "They have the potential to be very, very good in two or three years. They have a young program, right now getting it all together."

Jones has scheduled an official visit with Indiana on Dec. 3rd and is in the process of setting up two additional visits with East Carolina and South Carolina. He figures to take one of his remaining two official visits to North Carolina, but right now Jones, who has never been to Chapel Hill, is waiting things out.

"I would like to," stated Jones. "But I have to see what happens in the future. The way things look now, it looks positive that I'll be up there for a visit soon."

While starring on a winless team, Jones is the focal point of every offensive coordinator's game plan. With most plays run to the opposite side of the field, Jones believes he has begun to excel at tracking down ball carriers and shedding blocks.
