Over the summer, Allendale (N.J.) Northern Highlands offensive tackle Kevin Hughes was considered a huge North Carolina lean. An unofficial visit to Chapel Hill in July for North Carolina's Blue Chip Day solidified his feelings towards the Tar Heels.
In addition to weighing his options, Hughes, who was verbally offered by UNC early on in the summer, waited for an official offer to be extended before he verbally committed to the Heels. The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder found out recently that the odds of that official offer coming are now unlikely.
"They called and pretty much said they were going to not offer me at the moment," explained Hughes. "They felt like they wanted to offer a couple of lineman that were at their camp and they got to see in person."
Hughes, who recently set an official visit to Pittsburgh, is now strongly looking into the Panthers, but is also receiving interest from Rutgers and Buffalo.
