UNC-Santa Clara: Broncos Quotes

OAKLAND, Calif. – Santa Clara coach Dick Davey and players Doron Perkins and Travis Niesen addressed the media following the game…

"Obviously, I am excited about the victory, but you have to keep things in perspective. It's one game. We had a chance. It might have been slim and we would have to do a lot of things right, but we knew we had a chance. We're excited about this win. There was no special ingredient that we had. It was just find open areas and we did most of the time. Let's face it, we were lucky. They didn't shoot the ball real well and that really helped us."

On Travis Niesen's play:
"You talk about a warrior. He is not afraid of anybody. He fears nobody."

"I like to play as hard as I can and give it all I've got. I go in there and play as hard as I can for as long as I can. It's a lot easier to walk off the court that way after giving it all you've got. Win or lose, you can be proud of what you do. You just have to have that mindset to refuse to lose. The game of basketball is not played in quarters. It's a whole 40 minutes. I don't think I'm very good, I just play real hard. I'm not afraid of anyone. It's still five-on-five. They are just wearing blue uniforms that say ‘North Carolina.'"

"They were obviously more athletic than we were at every position, but we just worked harder. We just came out with the energy that we have not before and that really helped us."
