"I think Marshall is going to try to offer me," explained Tate. "But right now I'm just interested in going to North Carolina. Carolina is my number one choice.
"I talk to the one coach [of Marshall] a bunch. He came to the school watched film and I talked to him. That's about it."
In addition to Marshall, Tate is fielding interest from East Carolina and West Virginia, but North Carolina remains his only offer.
The two-star prospect claims the chances of him de-committing are "slim" and he is actually in the process of setting up an official visit with the Tar Heels.
"I talked to Coach [John] Bunting he told me I had to take it in January," remarked Tate. "I don't have a date set yet; he's supposed to let me know."
Tate and Cummings High School are still alive in the NCHSAA 3A State Championship playoffs. A win this Friday against rival Shelby would send them to the State Championship Finals. Tate has contributed to Cummings's success recording over 1,100 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns.
