James Schedules Official Visit

He might not have thought North Carolina was the "right fit" for him back in July when the Tar Heels coaching staff initially offered him, but Wilmington (N.C.) Ashley wide receiver Geron James is now singing a different tune.

"They just turned stuff around this year," explained James. "I really like that. That had to be part of the coaching staff. Plus, I like the school, I like the university. And it's close to home."

James likes North Carolina so much that the 6-foot-4, 175-pounder has scheduled an official visit to Chapel Hill on December 17th.

Apparently the coaching staff was recruiting the Scout.com two-star prospect pretty hard despite the rough start and then kept on him. In addition to regular phone call conversations, assistant coach Brad Lawing made an in-home visit to James's Wilmington house recently.

"They contact me two or three times every week," remarked James. "Sunday the coach [Brad Lawing] came by my house and we talked. Just talking about the season and how I have a scholarship there and stuff I need to take care of."

James has also set up an official visit with N.C. State (Dec. 10th) and figures to reschedule an official with Virginia Tech after recently canceling while also making arrangements with South Carolina.
