UNC Tops 20,000 in Tire Bowl Ticket Sales

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--In just one week, University of North Carolina fans have purchased over 20,000 tickets to the Continental Tire Bowl on December 30 in Charlotte where the Tar Heels will face future Atlantic Coast Conference rival and 23rd-ranked Boston College.

"I'm proud of the way our fans have responded in such a short time," said UNC Athletic Director Dick Baddour. "It is a tribute to the student-athletes and coaches on this team that so many fans want to watch them play one more time. I encourage anyone that wants tickets to purchase them soon so we can have a true home field advantage in Charlotte."

Tickets are available by calling the UNC ticket office at 1-800-722 HEEL (4335) or 919-962-2296 and may also be purchased on-line at TarHeelBlue.com. Tickets first went on sale last Tuesday at 4 p.m. The priority deadline for Rams Club members is Monday, December 6.

"We've had a tremendous response from our fans and we expect that to continue until gameday," said Associate Athletic Director for Tickets Clint Gwaltney. "Our staff has been busy with phone calls and on-line ticket orders since last week. Carolina fans recognize the excitement this team has generated and they are taking advantage of a great opportunity to see a future ACC opponent in our home state."

The Continental Tire Bowl is the final game for Carolina's seniors, so if fans want to see Darian Durant, Jason Brown and Chad Scott play one more game in Carolina Blue, they are strongly encouraged to purchase their Tire Bowl tickets soon.

College football's first bowl game to call the Carolinas home, the third-annual Continental Tire Bowl will take place on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., with a 1 p.m. kickoff. The game is certified to and operated by Charlotte-based Raycom Sports.
