Heels Hand Out Awards At 2004 Football Banquet

Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- University of North Carolina quarterback Darian Durant and safety Gerald Sensabaugh were named the Tar Heels' offensive and defensive Most Valuable Players, respectively, on Sunday evening at UNC's annual football awards banquet at the Smith Center.

A native of Florence, S.C., Durant earned his second consecutive team MVP honor with an outstanding senior season in which he completed 155 of 258 attempts for 1,979 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. Durant holds 48 school records, including career marks for passing yards, touchdowns, completions, attempts and total offense.

Sensabaugh came to North Carolina for his senior season when East Tennessee State disbanded its football program following the 2003 season. A native of Kingsport, Tenn., Sensabaugh led the Tar Heels with 70 tackles, including a team-best 6.5 tackles for loss.

Carolina (6-5, 5-3 ACC) finished tied for third in the league standings and will face future ACC opponent Boston College in the Continental Tire Bowl in Charlotte on December 30.
