Quinn To Solidify Commitment

Normally, official visits from commitments are saved to provide the recruit with an introduction to the campus and university. However, with Maple Heights (Ohio) tight end Richard Quinn, who softened his verbal commitment to UNC in November, the Tar Heels' coaching staff pulled out all the stops during his official visit with the objective being to win back the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder.

So far the mission has been a success, as Quinn has relayed to his father the many positives of his trip with still a day to go.

"Well, he's liked everything he has seen there so far," explained Quinn's father, Richard Sr. "The coaching staff has been very sincere. He loved the basketball game, he's a basketball player himself and he's a big basketball fan, too – played both sports in high school."

Although Quinn has official visits scheduled with Iowa and Wisconsin, after talking to his son earlier today, the elder Quinn believes the Scout.com three-star prospect will be canceling those trips and solidifying his commitment.

"I don't think he'll be looking around once he gets back," remarked Quinn. "I think he's 99.9% sure he's going to North Carolina."

Quinn will return from Chapel Hill Monday to affirm this.

Maple Heights finished the season 10-2 losing to Tallmadge in the first round of the playoffs. Quinn closed out his senior season by catching 32 passes for 446 yards and 9 touchdowns.
