Harding: 'The Visit Went Great'

Speedy Garland (Texas) defensive back Matthew Harding left Chapel Hill on Sunday with good feelings about Carolina.

He's been a Boston College lean, but now he says the Tar Heels are "way up high on his list."

"The visit went great," Matthew Harding told Inside Carolina Sunday night. "North Carolina looks like a great place for me to be. The campus was great, the education seemed great and the coaches were even better."

The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder reports a 4.3 to 4.4-second time over 40 yards.

Harding will visit Iowa State next weekend and then make his decision sometime before Christmas, he said. Harding said he won't wait until after the Continental Tire Bowl on Dec. 30 to see who wins between the Eagles and Tar Heels.

"By the looks of things, I'm going to have an awfully hard decision," Harding said. "Boston College is a real good college, but I really did like North Carolina. I really enjoyed my visit and I loved everything about it.

"It's going to be a great bowl game, because those are two really great teams, but it's not going to have an impact on my decision. But most likely I'll be in the ACC."
