Roy Williams Watches Stepheson

Alex Stepheson, one of the top junior post players in the west for 2006 and a top 50 player nationally, had a cross-country visitor from North Carolina at his game ...

Alex Stepheson, 6-8 SR PF/C North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, told us yesterday that he doesn't have a list of schools yet.

"I haven't been thinking about it much -- I don't really have any top schools," said Stepheson. "Now that the season has started, I'm just thinking about winning the state."

We asked Stepheson if he had a feel for which schools are recruiting him the hardest at this point and he said, "Most of the Pac-10 schools. North Carolina is showing a lot of interest -- Roy Williams was here at my game today. Wake Forest has offered."

We asked if North Carolina had offered yet and Stepheson replied, "No, not yet. A bunch of Pac-10 schools have, but I can't remember which ones."

Stepheson told us that he doesn't have a favorite at this time and isn't even sure about which schools he'll want to visit.

"I'll sit down at the end of the season with my parents and we'll start to narrow it down then," said Stepheson.

When questioned about the role of location in his decision, Stepheson said, "It's not an issue -- I don't have any preference in terms of location."

Stepheson told us that he has a 3.0 GPA and he hasn't yet taken the SAT.
