Nicholson Attends Tire Bowl

All-American linebacker Derek Nicholson was in Charlotte this past weekend to watch the Tar Heels take on Boston College in the Continental Tire Bowl.

"It was a good game in the first half," Nicholson said. "Things got a little out of hand towards the end of the game. My mother went with me to the game. I thought they (UNC) hustled and fought the whole game. They had a couple of bad breaks that affected the outcome."

On the recruiting front, Nicholson has narrowed his choices to four schools.

"Virginia Tech, Miami, FSU, and UNC are my final four," he said. "I'll commit to one of these schools. I do not plan to commit until after I take all of my official visits. I'll visit Florida State on January 22 and Miami on January 29."

Nicholson visited Va. Tech and UNC in December.

"Right now I'd say all the teams are even," he said.

Nicholson has a big weekend planned for January 15 as he will participate in the Army All-American Bowl.

"I have never been to San Antonio so I an really looking forward to the visit and the game," he said.

Nicholson said does not plan to announce his decision at the game.
