GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Tywon Lawson knows he could have played better Monday at the SPBP Classic against South Gwinnett (Ga.). After all, he is arguably the best junior point guard in the nation.

"They stepped up their game, but we didn't play as hard as we could in the second half and didn't play together," Lawson said. "I guess I played all right, but I had too many turnovers."

Lawson's numbers were modest compared to his usual output -- 13 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 2pt, 3-3 FT) two assists and four rebounds. Though there were occasional reminders of just how good he can be.

"By his standards I'd say it was an average game for him," said ScoutHoops.com analyst Dave Telep. "But he did some things … the floater in the lane, the extra gear that he seems to get ... he showed a little bit tonight.

The 6-0 floor leader is pretty set on wanting to play college ball on the East Coast, citing the ACC and the Big East, though the first four schools out of his mouth were all from the ACC -- "Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, North Carolina and NC State."

He plans to being taking visits after his junior season concludes.
